Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effect of Erythropoietin (EPO) on neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).Methods A total of 80 patients HIE with EPO treated in our hospital from March 2016 to September 2018 were selected and divided into control group and observation group by random number table method,40 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional treatment, and the observation group was given EPO treatment on the basis of the control group. After treatment, the therapeutic effect, the newborn′s neurobehavioral development, intellectual development and birth quality between the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate in the observation group was 95.00% (38/40),higher than that of the control group, accounting for 77.50% (31/40),and the difference was statistically significant (P=0.023).The 2 and 4 week neonatal behavioral neurological assessment(NBNA) scores in the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).At 3 and 6 months after birth, the psychological development index (PDI) score and mental development index (MDI) score of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).After the age of 10 months, the scores of psychomotor function area, gross motor function area, language function area, social adaption function area, and personal social contact function area in the observation group were higher than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The use of EPO treatment for HIE is beneficial to promoting the recovery of neurological function, ameliorating intellectual development, and improving birth quality. It is worthy of clinical promotion.
