Abstract:Objective To analyze the sedative sleep effect of chloral hydrate retention enema using PDCA cycle method on infants and young children in emergency department. Methods A total of 80 infants and young children who received chloral hydrate retention enema treatment in Ganzhou Women and Children's Health Care Hospital from July 2021 to August 2022 were selected as the study objects. The patients were divided into observation group (40 cases)and control group(40 cases)in the order of admission. The control group received routine care, while the observation group received PDCA cycle care. The sedative effect, sleep onset time, sleep maintenance time, and enema overflow between two groups of pediatric patients were compared. Results The proportion of total effective rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The onset time of sleep of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).The sleep maintenance time of the observation group was longer than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The proportion of enema overflow in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The retention enema of chloral hydrate based on the PDCA cycle method is beneficial for enhancing sedative effects, improving both sleep onset and maintenance time, and is worthy of clinical application.
