Correlation between rs699947 polymorphism of vascular endothelial growth factor gene and susceptibility to breast cancer in Han women

Abstract:Objective To investigate the correlation between rs699947 polymorphism of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) gene and susceptibility to breast cancer in Han women. Methods From March 2013 to August 2018, 258 breast cancer patients in Qiqihar and Daqing of Heilongjiang Province were selected as the breast cancer group, and 162 healthy women were selected as the control group during the same period. PCR was used for genotyping of peripheral blood cells. Results The distribution of alleles and genotypes between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05). After adjusting for confounding factors, the predictive value of AC and AA for breast cancer risk was 0.341 and 0.170, respectively (P<0.05). The predictive risk of breast cancer in the dominant model and the recessive model were 0.276 and 2.657, respectively (P<0.05). Conclusion The polymorphism of rs699947 in VEGF gene is significantly associated with breast cancer susceptibility. Genotype AC and AA are the protective factors of breast cancer.
