Objective To study the distribution and genotype characteristics of 581 male patients with suspected human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in Guizhou, and to provide reference for the prevention and treatment of HPV in males in Guizhou. Methods Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and reverse dot blot hybridization were used for HPV detection in samples of 581 male patients sent to Guizhou Ankang Clinical Laboratories Inc.from January 2016 to April 2020 and to analyze distribution of 23 HPV subtypes. Results Among 581 male patients,445 were HPV positive, with a positive rate of 76.59%.The positive rate of single low-risk HPV infection was 23.41% (136/581).The positive rate of single high-risk HPV infection was 6.37%(37/581).The positive rate of low-risk HPV multiple infection was 3.44%(20/581).The positive rate of high-risk HPV multiple infection was 3.79% (32/581).The coinfection rate of high-risk and low-risk HPV was 39.59%(230/581).The main types of infection were HPV6,HPV11,HPV52,HPV16 and HPV81.The positive rate of single infection in <21 years old group was lower than that in 21-<31 years old group and 31-<41 years old group, and the positive rate of mixed infection was higher than that in 31-<41 years old group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.005).The positive rate of HPV11 infection in 21-<31 years old group was higher than that in 31-<41 years old group and 41-<51 years old group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.005).Conclusion The positive rate of male HPV infection in Guizhou is high, mainly HPV6,HPV11,HPV52,HPV16 and HPV81,and the infection is mainly low-risk and high-risk mixed infection.
