Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of continuous nursing intervention on the self-efficacy and self-care ability of discharged patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma after the first radiotherapy. Methods A total of 92 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who were admitted to the Department of Radiotherapy in Yunnan Cancer Hospital from August 2019 to December 2020 and received radiotherapy and successfully completed the treatment and discharged from the hospital were selected as the research objects. The paired grouping method was used to divide them into the control group and the experimental group, with 46 cases in each group. The control group received conventional nursing care and the experimental group used continuous nursing care. The scores of the strategies used by people to promote health (SUPPH) and exercise of self-care agency scale (ESCA) before and after the intervention were compared between the two groups. Results Before the intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in the SUPPH and ESCA scores of the two groups (P>0.05).After the intervention, the SUPPH and ESCA scores of the two groups were higher than those before the intervention, and the SUPPH and ESCA scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The timely continuous nursing intervention for patients discharged from the hospital after the first radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma can effectively improve self-management efficiency and self-care ability.
