Application of PDCA cycle teaching method in the standardized residents training in the Department of Gastroenterology for clinical medicine professional postgraduates

Objective To explore the effect of PDCA cycle teaching method in the standardized residents training in the Department of Gastroenterology for clinical medicine professional postgraduates.Methods From January to December 2021,a total of 120 clinical medicine professional postgraduate students who entered the Department of Gastroenterology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University to participate in the standardized residents training were selected as the research objects.There were 12 teachers,all of whom have obtained the qualification certificate of residential training teachers,and have been engaged in clinical teaching of Gastroenterology for more than 5 years.The students and teachers were divided into the experimental group and the control group by random number table method,with 60 students and 6 teachers in each group.The PDCA cycle teaching method was adopted in the experimental group.The main reasons for the low satisfaction of teachers and students with the standardized residents training were found by fishbone diagram and pareto chart,and continuous improvements were made.The traditional teaching method was adopted in the control group.The examination pass rate of the students and the satisfaction of teachers and students with the training were compared between the two groups.Results The main reasons for the low satisfaction of teachers and students with the standardized resident training included low attention to the training by students,low motivation to teaching by teachers,the lack of reward and punishment system for the teachers,and the lack of communication between teachers and students.After the continuous improve ment of the above-mentioned reasons through the PDCA cycle,in terms of the satisfaction of the students with the residential training,the satisfaction of the teachers with the students in the training,and the pass rate of the students in the exam,the experimental group were significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Application of PDCA cycle teaching method in the standardized residents training in the department of Gastroenterology can significantly improve the effect of training and the satisfaction of teachers and students with the training.PDCA cycle teaching method is worthy of promotion in the training of clinical medicine professional postgraduates.
