Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of meridian beating combined with acupoint massage on preventing the formation of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in patients with paraplegia. Methods A total of 136 patients with paraplegia hospitalized in Department of Spinal Surgery of Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2020 to December 2021 were selected as research objects, they were divided into observation group and control group according to random number table method, with 68 cases in each group. The control group received routine prevention and intervention such as lower extremity position management, and the observation group was given meridian beating combined with acupoint massage on the basis of the control group. The clinical symptoms(skin color, limb swelling degree [lower extremity circumference change], pain score [numeric rating scale], Homan′s sign positive rate), plasma Ddimer (D-D) level and lower extremity vascular color Doppler ultrasound (femoral vein blood flow velocity) were recorded before intervention and after 1 week of intervention. Results Before intervention, there were no statistical differences in the skin color score, swelling degree score, pain score, Homan′s sign positive rate and serum D-D level between the two groups (P>0.05). After 1 week of intervention, the skin color score, swelling degree score, pain score and level of serum D-D in the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the skin color score, swelling degree score, pain score and level of serum D-D of observation group were lower than those of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After 1 week of intervention, the Homan′s sign positive rates in the two groups were higher than those before intervention, the Homan′s sign positive rate in observation group was lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no statistically significance in lower extremity femoral vein blood flow velocity between the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). The limb lower extremity femoral vein blood flow velocity of the two groups after 1 week of intervention were higher than those before intervention, and the limb lower extremity femoral vein blood flow velocity of observation group was higher than that of control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Meridian beating combined with acupoint massage can effectively increase the lower extremity blood flow velocity, relieve the clinical symptoms, and reduce the formation of DVT in patients with paraplegia, and it has certain clinical value.
