Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of health education based on teach-back method in patients of bladder cancer with urostomy. Methods A total of 80 bladder cancer patients admitted to the Department of Urinary Surgery, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 2020 to September 2021 were selected as the research objects. All patients underwent radical cystectomy plus uncontrolled urinary diversion. Patients were divided into experimental group (n=40) and control group (n=40) by random number table method. The control group was given routine health education intervention, while the experimental group was given health education based on teach-back method. Three months after operation, the behavioral compliance of the two groups was assessed by the compliance questionnaire, and the self-care ability of the two groups was analyzed by the Kristensen urostomy self-care scale. The incidence of stoma and peristoma complications was recorded. Results Three months after operation, the total behavior compliance rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the scores of Kristensen urostomy self-care scale between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, the self-care willingness, self-care skills and total score of the scale of patients in the experimental group were higher than those before intervention, and the above scores of patients in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total incidence of complications in experimental group was lower than that in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Health education based on teach-back method can eff ectively improve behavioral compliance, reduce the incidence of stoma and peristoma skin complications, and improve the self-care ability of patients of bladder cancer with urostomy.
