Two case reports of hereditary spherocytosis combined with pregnancy

Abstract：Hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is featured with recurrentvascular hemolyticanemia, intermittent jaundice and splenomegaly，which is the most common inherited disease with red blood cell membrane defect. The incidence rate in northern Europe and North America is up to 1/2 000. As is known to all, the disease is caused by genetic mutation that encodes the membrane protein such as SPTB. There are few cases of hereditary spherocytosis combined with pregnancy clinically. This paper reports two cases of elective term delivery in pregnant women with hereditary spherocytosis without splenectomy, and discusses the management of pregnancy complicated with hereditary spherocytosis, the timing and mode of termination of pregnancy, and the causes of anemia during pregnancy, to provide clinical basis for diagnosis and treatment of pregnancy complicated with hereditary spherocytosis in the future.
