Objective To explore the influence of different body mass index (BMI) of female patients on clinical outcome with assisted reproductive sperm artificial insemination by husband sperm technology. Methods The clinical data of the patients and her husband who received artificial insemination by husband sperm (AIH) in the Reproductive Medicine Center of Fujian Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, and they were divided into the low body weight group (BMI<18.5 kg/m2), the normal body weight group (18.5 kg/m2≤BMI<24 kg/m2), the overweight group (BMI≥24 kg/m2) based on their BMI. The basic data and clinical outcomes of AIH assisted pregnancy in the three groups were statistically analyzed. Results There were significant differences in the abortion rate and premature birth rate among the three groups (P<0.05). After Bonferroni′s correction, the rate of abortion and premature birth in the overweight group were higher than those of the normal weight group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.017). Patients with BMI≥24 kg/m2 underwent AIH ovulation induction program, and the pregnancy rate of ovulation induction cycle was higher than that of natural cycle (15.9% vs. 10.0%), the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the abortion rate, premature birth rate and full term birth rate between ovulation induction cycle and natural cycle (P>0.05). Conclusion AIH assisted pregnancies of overweight women have higher pregnancy loss rate and preterm delivery rate than those of low weight and normal weight women. AIH assisted pregnancies may be helpful to improve their pregnancy outcomes.
