Abstract:Objective To explore the risk factors and prognosis of transient ischemic attack (TIA) in the elderly. Methods The clinical data of 84 patients with TIA reated in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from September 2018 to September 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. They were divided into young and middle-aged group (≤65 years old,n=34) and elderly group (>65 years old,n=50).The general data, blood lipid, blood glucose index level and prognosis of the two groups were collected, logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of TIA in the elderly. Results The ratio of diabetes in the elderly group (44.00%) was higher than that in the young and middle-aged group (14.71%),and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The levels of triglyceride (TG),fasting blood glucose (FBG),cholesterol (CHO) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in the elderly group were higher than those in the young and middle-aged group, and the levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)were lower than those in the young and middle-aged group (P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed diabetes mellitus (β=1.334,OR=1.982,95%CI=1.318-2.984),CHO (β=3.853,OR=1.748,95%CI=1.361-2.937),HDL-C (β=2.841,OR=2.328,95%CI=1.472-3.386),LDL-C (β=1.596,OR=1.853,95%CI=1.653-2.740),FBG (β=0.967,OR=1.263,95%CI=1.037-3.194) were independent risk factors for transient ischemic attack in the elderly (P<0.05).The incidence of serious vascular events within 90 days after the disease in the elderly group was higher than that in the young and middle-aged group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Diabetes,CHO,HDL-C,LDL-C and FBG are the high risk factors of TIA.Early treatment should be taken to improve the prognosis of patients with TIA.
