Abstract:At present, the research on the gender differences in mental stress induced myocardial ischemia (MSIMI)shows that the gender of patients could be an important factor affecting the incidence and treatment of MSIMI,and the morbidity of female is higher. Many studies have found that the incidence of MSIMI in women is higher than that in men due to coronary artery microcirculation disorders, high platelet reactivity and hormone/inflammatory factors when facing psychological stress.Recent study found that, differ from men, women are prone to have symptoms like angina, anxiety and depression which can aggravate coronary artery microcirculation disorders. These symptoms are considered to be susceptible factors for patients to develop MSIMI.Therefore, relying on the evaluation of the condition of coronary artery microcirculation to predict the occurrence of MSIMI and providing psychological decompression intervention to alleviate the symptoms of female patients are of great significance in the future clinical research. In addition, nuclear medicine examination and echocardiography are mainly used in the diagnosis of MSIMI.Existing studies have shown that the rate of MSIMI in female patients detected by echocardiography is higher than that in men. This article reviews the progress about the mechanism, concomitant symptoms, diagnostic methods and future research direction of gender differences in MSIMI.The purpose of this review is to summarize the existing experience and provide a basis for follow-up clinical research.
