Thinking and exploration of integrating curriculum ideology and politics into stomatology teaching

Abstract:With the vigorous development of education in our country, the classroom teaching in colleges and universities in the new era has changed from the previous education mode centered on knowledge transmission to all-round humanistic quality education. While emphasizing professional knowledge education, ideological and political education is gradually being strengthened. One of the most effective ways to carry out ideological and political education for medical students in colleges and universities in the new era is "curriculum education". In order to promote the development of stomatological medical personnel and to cultivate stomatological medical workers in line with the needs of the times, it is crucial to introduce curriculum ideological and political education to stomatological teaching and talent cultivation. Based on analysis of deficiencies of ideological and political education in the current curriculum teaching of stomatology students, such as unsystematic ideological and political teaching content, clinical teachers′ weak consciousness of ideological and political education, students′ inadequate interest in ideological and political education, and incomplete construction of curriculum ideological and political material database, this paper is focused on exploring the unification of goals of value and imparting knowledge in teaching stomatology, exploiting ideological and political education resources, and establishing clear teaching objectives. Guided by "curriculum ideology and politics", it proposes to make reform of teaching content, with innovation of teaching methods, development of assessment and evaluation system, building of curriculum ideological and political material library, and integration of ideological and political education into the whole process of theoretical and practical teaching. These measures will be helpful to cultivation of stomatology talents with noble medical ethics, excellent professional skills, strong sense of responsibility and love in the new era, contributing to the development of medical cause in China.
