Study on therapeutic effect of Buxu Yangle Syrup on bromocriptine mesylate induced hypogalactia in rats

Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Buxu Yangle Syrup (BXYL) on Bromocriptine mesylate induced lactation deficiency in rats. Methods Bromocriptine mesylate was used to establish a rat model of lactation deficiency. The body weight and lactation of the offspring were recorded. The serum prolactin was detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The histopathological changes of hypophysis and mammary gland were observed.Results The body weight and growth rate of the BXYL high and medium dose groups were higher than those of the model group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The 8 h lactation per day of the BXYL high,medium and low dose groups on the 3-10 d after delivery were higher than those of the model group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.01). The serum quercetin levels in the BXYL high and medium dose groups on the 3rd, 7th, and 11th days after delivery were higher than those in the model group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Compared with the model group, the number of mammary acini and ducts in each dose group of BXYL increased significantly, expanded and proliferated, and the adipose connective tissue between mammary lobules decreased. Compared with the model group, the morphology of pituitary cells in each dose group of BXYL was normal, and eosinophils increased. Conclusion Buxu Yangle Syrup has obvious effect on promoting lactation in rats with lactation deficiency.
