Application of health education based on transtheoretical model in pulmonary rehabilitation follow-up management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease |

Abstract Objective To explore the application effect of health education based on transtheoretical model in pulmonary rehabilitation follow-up management of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods A total of 80 COPD patients who were admitted to the Ninth People′s Hospital of Nanhai District, Foshan City from February 2019 to January 2020 and were about to be discharged due to improved condition were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group received routine health education, while the observation group received health education based on cross-theoretical model. The level of disease self-management, lung function and quality of life were compared between the two groups before intervention and 3 and 6 months after intervention. Results The scores of self-management level and each dimension of quality of life, forced expiratory volume in first second(FEV1), FEV1/forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC) and the percentage of FEV1 in the estimated values (FEV1%pred) of patients in the observation group were higher than those before intervention, and higher than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Health education based on transtheoretical model can effectively improve the disease self-management ability of COPD patients, promote the rehabilitation of lung function and improve the quality of life.
