Abstract Objective To explore the effect of early cranioplasty combined with late cranial repairing in patients with skull defect after craniocerebral trauma. Methods A total of 100 patients with skull defect after craniocerebral trauma admitted in People′s Hospital of Lianshui County from January 2018 to October 2019 were selected as the research subjects. The patients were divided into control group (n=50) and observation group (n=50) by the random number table method. In the control group, late cranial repair was only used, while in the observation group, early cranioplasty combined with late cranial repairing was adopted. The treatment effect, prognosis and Karnofsky performance status (KPS)scores before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results There was no statistically significant difference in the KPS score between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05).The KPS score of the observation group after treatment was higher than that before the treatment, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).In the control group, the KPS score after treatment was higher than that before, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The KPS score of the observation group after treatment was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The good prognosis rate of the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The overall response rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Early cranioplasty combined with late cranial repairing obtains a significant effect on patients with skull defect after craniocerebral trauma, which can effectively improve the patient′s neurological damage, benefit the patient′s physical rehabilitation, and has a favorable prognosis. It is worthy of vigorous promotion and application.
