Effect of postoperative respiratory tract management in children with congenital heart disease under cardiopulmonary bypass |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of postoperative respiratory tract management in children with congenital heart disease under cardiopulmonary bypass. Methods Seventy-two children with congenital heart disease undergoing cardiopulmonary bypass in Changzhou Children′s Hospital affiliated to Nantong University from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected as the research subjects. According to the random number method, they were divided into control group and observation group, with 36 cases in each group. The control group received routine management and the observation group received respiratory tract management. Complications, postoperative recovery indicators (postoperative hospital stay, postoperative monitoring time, mechanical ventilation time), respiratory and circulatory system indicators (heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen saturation) were compared between the two groups. Results The total incidence of complications in the observation group was 5.56%, lower than 30.56% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The postoperative hospital stay, postoperative monitoring time and mechanical ventilation time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in respiratory and circulatory system indexes between the two groups before intervention (P>0.05). After intervention, the heart rate, respiratory rate in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and blood oxygen saturation was higher than in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Respiratory tract management after pediatric congenital heart surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass can significantly reduce complications, improve respiratory and circulatory system indexes, and have positive significance for postoperative recovery.
