Abstract: Objective To explore the biomechanical comparison between interlocking suture and half-knot locking suture in tendon repair. Methods A total of 130 flexor digitorum profundus tendons in the hind limbs of 65 adult white pigs weighing 300-400 g were selected as experimental subjects, and were divided into control group (65 tendons) and study group (65 tendons) according to random number table method. The control group was treated with half knot locking suture, while the study group was treated with internal locking suture. The suture time, 2 mm crack formation load, maximum tensile strength, maximum gap, and suture detachment fracture condition were compared between the two groups. Results There was no significant difference in suture time between the two groups (P>0.05).The formation load of 2 mm crack in the study group was higher than that in the control group, the maximum tensile strength was higher than that in the control group, and the maximum gap length was longer than that in the control group, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).The fracture mode in the control group was suture line segment fracture, and in the study group, suture line was pulled from the broken end of tendon. Conclusion Compared with semi-knot locking suture, interlocking suture has better biomechanical properties and can effectively prevent gap formation, which is worth popularizing.
